What is a Health Coach?
Health coaches play an important role in our clients’ lives. They’re able to mentor, motivate, and cultivate positive choices to support lifestyle and behavior adjustments—skills that can be difficult to achieve alone. Also called wellness coaches, health coaching is a 360-degree approach that focuses on the whole person, whether their imbalance is physical, emotional, or environmental.
By determining a participant’s “readiness to change,” as well as his or her personal goals and visions, a health coach can serve as an expert resource and guide. Our coaches are all registered dietitians who are highly trained in behavior change, counseling methods, and evidence-based guidelines.
“I always tell my clients, they are in the driver’s seat. It’s up to them where we go,” one of our health coaches told me recently. “But I’ll give them directions along the way and provide course adjustments and guidance to achieve their goals.”
Our health coaches provide their services by phone, in person, and through our portal system. There are numerous ways to connect and a reap the benefits of a trained health professional. Health coaching gives clients a way to work on small achievable goals, one step at a time!
