WCS Health Coaching Leadership Earns National Board Certification
We’re proud to announce that this month, two WCS leaders became National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coaches, a brand-new certification from the International Consortium for Health and Wellness Coaching (ICHWC).
Our Chief Wellness Officer Juliet Rodman, and Melissa McDonough, our Director of Coaching Operations, are part of the first cohort in the country to receive this certification. Rodman and McDonough are also both already registered dietitians, as are all WCS health coaches. Rodman also won the 2017 Outstanding Dietitian Award from the Nutrition Entrepreneurs Dietitian Practice Group.
The ICHWC created this new certification to establish a national standard for health coaches, measuring foundational knowledge, tasks, and skills. The certification program emphasizes science-based training and education, and is a result of a partnership with the National Board of Medical Examiners.
Health coaching is a rapidly growing industry—which is why both we and the ICHWC value opportunities to set standards and ensure the highest quality possible in the field. “We pride ourselves on offering the most up to date evidence-based coaching services,” McDonough said. “By receiving this certification, we’ll also be able to continue developing and training our network of coaches to the highest level.” The certification included a comprehensive job task analysis, assessment of coaching competencies, and focus on scope of practice that put Rodman and McDonough in the strongest position yet to deliver top-rate coaching programs.
Congratulations Juliet and Melissa for leading the charge! Learn more about our coaching program here.
