Treat Yourself: A Healthier Pumpkin Spice Latte
Pumpkin spice lattes are a cozy treat perfect for a cool November day. However, the ones available at coffee shops can pack a lot of sugar and be expensive. Luckily, making your own pumpkin spice latte at home can be an easy way enjoy this fall favorite with a bit less sugar and for a lower cost. Don’t have an espresso machine? You can use regular hot brewed coffee instead or even brew the coffee extra strong for more of an espresso-like feel. If you want to try making your own pumpkin spice latte at home, just follow the simple recipe below!
Healthy Pumpkin Spice Latte
Prep Time: 5 minutes
1 cup almond milk, or milk of your choice
1 cup hot brewed coffee, or 1-2 shots of espresso
2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
1 to 2 tablespoons maple syrup (or sweetener of choice)
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- Combine all of the ingredients in a high-speed blender, and blend until smooth and creamy. (Or you can simply use a whisk to combine the ingredients in a pan over medium heat on the stove.)
- Adjust flavor to taste, and serve warm.
Note: A high-speed blender should keep the contents hot enough to serve immediately, but if you’re using a traditional blender, you may want to transfer the contents to a saucepan and warm over the stove top before serving.
