Celebrate National Walking Day
Today is National Walking Day, an annual event sponsored by the American Heart Association to help people remember the many health benefits of walking.
Here at WCS, we’re encouraging all our headquarters-based employees to book time on our office treadmill desks. We’re trying to beat our previous record of more than 64,000 steps.

- Focus on posture. Keep your head lifted, core muscles engaged, and shoulders relaxed.
- Breathe deeply. Slow down if you’re out of breath. Don’t worry about speed at first.
Most importantly, make this a habit! Take walking breaks during the day, if you can. As this TED-Ed video explains, sitting for extended periods isn’t good for you:
